Scuola Italiana di Portland is excited to be offering our first ever weekend workshops this Fall for our Youth and Teen advanced and intermediate Italian speakers. This workshop will help Italian speakers gain a deeper understanding of the language and culture, while also keeping them engaged in fun and interesting topics and discussions.
Teenage Weekend Workshop
Ages 11-14, Advanced/Intermediate Italian
The class will focus on advanced reading and comprehension activities, as well as conversation on topics such as newspapers, movies, or other media based activities (songs, short clips etc). The material will be suited for the age and skills of the students. The focus is to motivate the young, advanced learners to speak, write, and read in the target language while developing a deeper interest in Italian culture.
There will be four workshops over two months – October 8, October 22, November 5, and November 19. The workshops are from 2:45pm – 4:45pm at Friendly House in the Pearl, 1542 NW 14th Ave, Portland, OR 97209.
Youth Weekend Workshop
Ages 5-10, Advanced/Intermediate Italian
The focus of the class will be to spark the student’s interest and curiosity in Italian language and culture, while improving speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The workshop will create enthusiasm through games that teach the language in a fun environment. Through creative activities they will learn to follow instructions and how to ask for help. Conversation will primarily be in Italian to facilitate students to grow their vocabulary.
There will be four workshops over two months – October 1, October 15, October 29, and November 12. The workshops are from 2:45pm – 4:45pm at Friendly House in the Pearl, 1542 NW 14th Ave, Portland, OR 97209.
