Italian Culture Summer Camps
UPDATE (8/4/23): Run Climb Play Summer Camp CANCELED due to low enrollment. We will try again next year! Thanks for your support as always!
We are so excited to announce our Run! Climb! Play! Summer Camp for ages 5-12 from 8:00am – 12:00pm during the week of August 14-18, 2023. This fun, dynamic summer camp will focus on different athletic basic skills through active games made to build coordination, balance, flexibility, and basic movement techniques.
The day starts at Scuola Italiana Preschool for drop off, then the kids will walk down to Movement Gym
(within a block of the school) by 8:30am. The kids will begin with an easy warm-up and stretch, followed by three games. In the second part of the morning, the children will be introduced to climbing. All of this will happen in bilingual instruction to increase language capability and cultural awareness. NOTE: to participate in climbing, the enrolled child needs to be at least 40 pounds for the safety equipment to operate properly.
Then the kids walk back to Scuola Italiana di Portland for lunch and pickup by 12pm. Cost: $250 per child (30% discount for siblings).

Summer Camp Instructor:
Touria Samiri, teaches Weekend, Ages 7-11
I was born in Morocco and immigrate as a child to Italy. I had won different Italian Young and Senior Championships; had participated in
many European Championships, and the World Cross Country Championship at Bydgoszcz in 2013 (Poland), so I had the opportunity to travel and see some cities around the world. It was a pleasure and an honor for me to represent Italy. I went to “High School Specializing in Languages, Social Sciences, Psychology, and Education” in Italy. In college, I specialized in “Physical Education and Sport Science.” I’m working right now as a Track & Field coach and Physical Education teacher.
